Moving from addiction to recovery and a stable career when you’ve lost connections with family and friends. Building a life after decades spent at home raising children. Dealing with sexual harassment at work. Motivating yourself to learn a job skill when social anxiety won’t let you leave the house.

Women’s Network PEI (WNPEI) supports and advocates for women on the Island so they can overcome whatever barriers they face. It’s a non-judgemental space for women to come when they need support getting to the next level and accomplishing their goals. Like the Propelle program, that provides personal development and community connection support for women who feel isolated. Or Trade HERizons, which offers a three-month crash course in trades that are high paying and in demand on the Island for women who want to start a new path to leadership. Or connecting women to the government programs that can help resolve issues or community groups, like Women Building PEI, that help them meet other women with shared experiences.

When your focus is on amplifying the voices of people who don’t have many opportunities and supporting their paths to leadership, Jillian Kilfoil, WNPEI’s Executive Director, says it’s important to check your ego at the door. “It’s not about us, it’s about working together and helping our clients find their own power. The less visible we are, the more we can raise them up – and the community as a whole.”
