About the client

MDBilling.ca, a cloud-based medical billing platform, was created in 2008 to help solve a major pain point for physicians—allowing them to spend more time with patients and less time on administrative work. Now used by 9,000 physicians across Ontario and British Columbia, the Toronto-based business has helped to alleviate the burden of medical paperwork with its convenient mobile and web billing applications.

Our transactions team worked with the MDBilling.ca owners as they contemplated selling their business. We worked alongside the owners to help ensure their selling interests were met while supporting them through a timely and efficient divestiture process. We assisted with a range of services including cybersecurity, tax structuring, and due diligence, as well as connected the owners with our network of professional contacts.

Today, MDBilling.ca is a part of Dr. Bill, another medical billing company acquired by RBC Ventures in 2020. Together, they’ve combined forces to make billing simpler for physicians—so they can continue to put patients first.
